Gratitude: I Got Out!

It has been a while since I've written on Blogger, As a matter of fact, I had forgotten that I registered here five years ago. Five years ago I was in a different space of consciousness.

2013.
Heavily in debt, I was trying to find a way of supplementing my income without going to a
9-5 routine. Been there, done that, is what I was thinking. But I had started doing something
that was a life saver for me. I started budgeting the income I had. It meant I had to make
sacrifices like not shopping as I had grown accustomed to, and watching my money like a
hawk with seven eyes. So each month I took to paper and wrote down what I was going to spend
and do with my income. When I first started I had very little money left from my funds but within
a few months I noticed the smaller bills being paid off. It took a lot longer to get the bigger bills
out the way but I was determined to be consistent.

2015
No longer heavily in debt, I could see the light at the end of the tunnel as they say. It was a beauty
that I never thought I'd see; but I was no longer a slave to the credit cards. I emerged a much
stronger, more confident person who saw the results of applied discipline. I once heard a pastor
say that if you want to learn something, make it a study, or focus point in your life. Well, I decided
that budgeting and discipline had been good to me the last two years. I continue to use them.

2017
Breathe. I finally had space to breathe. It was unbelievable that I got out of $35,000 of debt.
I am far more conscious of my spending habits now than I was in 2013. Looking back on that time
of financial stress I can say I am an overcomer. I must say that God through his Spirit lead me
out of those dark tunnels and I can now enjoy that abundant life which Jesus spoke about. He did
say that He is the way, the truth, and the light. It wasn't that I was so smart. It's that He gave me
his wisdom to make the necessary applications to usher me out of debt. I'm so thankful. So, when
shopping and the clerk asks me if I want to apply for a credit card with their store the answer is
and always will be NO!

2018
There you have it. I made up for the five years of absence from Blogger. But that is only one
aspect of my life. Maybe on the next writing, I'll tell about another😌
